Deciding to see a therapist isn't always an easy or straightforward decision for most people. In fact, people are more likely to go to a psychic for a reading than engage in therapy.
Most often by the time someone makes the decision to see a therapist, they have been sitting with a level of distress that has become familiar and comfortable. Giving rise to such sayings, as "Better the Devil you know"....and others, which I am sure you know more than me. Off course I have an inherent bias, for the benefits of seeing a therapist. Though even before I became one, I have always had a great curiosity for learning more, discovering more, about myself. I have also gone for therapy, counselling myself at challenging periods in my life, which I found extremely helpful. It was so nice to be in a space where the other person is there just for me, wanting to support my wellbeing. Though talking to friends can be helpful and a source of comfort, at the end of the day, in their love for us, sometimes friends will be reluctant to express the truth. So, why see a therapist? well, it is an investment in your own healing and transformation journey. Going to see someone who has been trained in this arena, like you do a mechanic, not because they're going to take all your problems away like a magician, but because they will support you, by walking beside you to rediscover your own inherent ability to live a fulfilling life. In addition, most of our neurosis, and difficulties were created in relationship, so, the relationship with a therapist can be a great crucible of transformation. This is not a comfortable or easy journey, and it requires a commitment and work from you. Yet the rewards for me are priceless. Because when you start to change the nature of your inner world, by developing a relationship with the different parts of you, including your Soul, it changes the nature of your external world. Like any other service, what often takes the most time is finding the person that feels like the best fit for you. Feel free to reach out with any queries. Xanthe
